A delegation of Chamber of Commerce & Industry Jammu, led by its President Arun Gupta, along with Anil Gupta, Sr. Vice President CCI, RajeeV Gupta, Jr. Vice President CCI, Manish Gupta, Secretary General CCI, and Rajesh Gupta, Secretary CCI, called on Nitin Gadkari, Hon’ble Union Minister of Road, Transport and Highways in New Delhi. They briefed him about concerns regarding the proposed construction designs of Katra-Delhi expressway, especially Kunjwani to Narwal section and Kunjwani to Satwari section, and submitted a memorandum.
Two senior members, Davinder Rana, Seh Parbhari BJP Himachal State Unit, and Sham Lal Langer, Ex-Sr. Vice President CCI, who were present at Delhi, were requested by Arun Gupta to accompany the delegation. During the interaction, Arun Gupta expressed that Jammu & Kashmir is currently experiencing unprecedented development under Nitin Gadkari’s leadership, contributing significantly to its overall growth and prosperity. He raised concerns and recommendations regarding ongoing infrastructure development projects in the Union Territory, particularly the Katra Delhi Expressway.
Arun Gupta drew attention to the proposed construction design of the expressway flyover between Kunjwani to Narwal, emphasizing concerns about blind walls disrupting vital connections between businesses and residences. He questioned the adherence to old patterns and suggested a more community-friendly pillar-based design.
The portion from Kunjwani to Narwal encompasses residential and commercial areas, and the delegation believes that a community-friendly pillar-based design for the expressway flyover would be more suitable.
Additionally, the delegation brought attention to the livelihood of 65 shopkeepers facing the threat of losing their businesses due to the proposed flyover design from Kunjwani to Satwari section. They requested a slight shift of the flyover to save the livelihoods of at least 45 shopkeepers.
Nitin Gadkari, in a telephonic conversation with the Chairman NHAI, discussed the issues raised in the meeting. He assured that he would personally look into the issues and find solutions, emphasizing that the general public should not be harassed during developmental projects.
