JAMMU, Jan 3
LIC Class-1 officers, under the banner of Federation of LIC CLASS-1 OFFICERS’ Association and led by its President, Com. Jatinder Bhat; Development officers, under the banner of NFIFWI and led by its President, Sh. Rakesh Magotra; and LIC Class-3&4 employees, under the banner of Northern Zone Insurance Employees’ Association and led by Divisional Secretary, Comrade Pawan Gupta, held massive demonstrations on 3rd January 2024 across LIC offices in Jammu & Kashmir in support of their long-pending demands.
Speaking at the D.O.Cell Jammu before a large gathering, the leaders criticized the central Govt. for not increasing the Corporation’s contribution in NPS from 10% to 14%, despite the LIC Board recommending it to the Ministry of Finance. They emphasized the immediate fulfillment of this demand, highlighting the gross injustice to employees appointed on or after 01-04-2010 who are under NPS. The wage revision of LIC employees, pending since 1st of August 2022, was also addressed. Although the charter has been submitted to the Management, no negotiations have started yet.
The demonstration stressed the demand to commence negotiations on wage revision at the earliest, as over a year has already elapsed since the wage revision was due. The leaders also strongly demanded the recruitment in all cadres to infuse young blood into the organization, considering it as the need of the hour. They condemned the unilateral attitude of the management and warned of intensified agitation in reaction to it. It was announced to intensify the agitation if the demands are not met.
Other speakers included Shreshtha Sharma, Priya Sharma, Dinesh Kumar Sharma, Dharminder Kumar, Rajesh Kumar, Raj Kumar, Neeraj Bhagat, and others.
