The opening ceremony of the Martyrs Premier League (MPL), organized by Haq Insaaf Council in collaboration with District Police Poonch and the Indian Army, unfolded with tremendous success. The event, held at the Army Ground near Airfield Poonch, marked a historic moment as it celebrated a decade of Haq Insaaf Council’s commitment to justice and righteousness.
Distinguished guests graced the occasion, enhancing the grandeur of the event. Notable attendees including Tehsildar Haveli, Mr. Anjum Bashir Khattak (KAS), Station House Officer (SHO) Insp Deepak Pathania,Second-in-Command (2IC) of 14 Mahar Army.
Their presence added to the vibrancy of the ceremony, emphasizing the collaborative spirit between civic authorities and the armed forces in promoting sportsmanship and unity.
A two-minute silence followed, allowing everyone present to reflect on the significance of the occasion.
The national anthem echoed through the grounds, setting the stage for an exciting pre-match buildup. The cricket matches, which commenced at 10:30 a.m., showcased the skill and sportsmanship of the participating teams.
Martyrs Premier League (MPL) took off with an electrifying start as the first match unfolded between Star Viper and Dallhan 11 at the Army Ground near Airfield Poonch. The nail-biting encounter kept spectators on the edge of their seats, contributing to the excitement of the tournament.
In a spirited performance, Dallhan 11 showcased their batting prowess, scoring an impressive 102 runs in 15 overs. However, Star Viper, determined and resilient, accepted the challenge and clinched victory by chasing down the target in a thrilling 14.5 overs.
The resilience and teamwork displayed by both teams added to the competitive spirit of the league, setting an exhilarating tone for the upcoming matches.
A standout performance in the match earned Nissar Khawaja from the Star Viper team the well-deserved title of “Man of the Match.” Khawaja’s exceptional contributions, whether with bat, ball, or in the field, were instrumental in securing the victory for Star Viper.
