JKHCBAJ felicitates Judge of HC elevated from Bar to the Bench

J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu today under the Presidentship of Senior Advocate Sh. Vikram Sharma felicitated Hon’ble Mr. Justice Rajnesh Oswal, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Rahul Bharti, Hon’ble Ms Justice Moksha Khajuria Kazmi and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Wasim Sadiq Nargal in presence of the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Tashi Rabstan senior-most judge of the High Court. Divisional Commissioner Sh. Ramesh Kumar and Law Secretary Sh. Achal Sethi also graced the occasion.
The event began with a minute’s silence in prayers for peace and in respect of member-advocates who left for heavenly abode in recent past. In his address by Sh. Parvesh Singh Salaria, General Secretary, followed by customary presentation of bouquets to the Judges and the visiting dignitaries. In his presidential address Sh. Vikram Sharma, Senior Advocate briefed the profile of the Judges elevated from the Bar and their significant achievements as advocates. Sharma asserted that it was indeed a pride moment for him to felicitate these Judges in his tenure as President of the Bar Association, them being the erstwhile Bar-Members.
Vikram Sharma, Senior Advocate & President JKHCBAJ raised the demands for and on behalf of the Association including provision for Display Boards in the Lawyers-Chamber Building and the Ladies Bar Room in District Court Complex, Jammu, for the facility of majority of member-advocates. He also stressed that the areas under the dome in the District Court Complex needs to be refurbished with fresh furniture to make it a worth sitting-place for the professionals. Sharma highlighted the problems being faced by the weaked members facing medical-emergencies on account of choking of the funds, and therefore, stressed that the High Court for indulgence to provide necessary financial help to the needy advocates in such medical emergencies.
He thanked the Presidents and the office-bearers of District Court Bar Associations of Reasi, Udhampur, Katra and Kathua who whole-heartedly participated in today’s event. The Bar Association congratulated and felicitated the Judges with a shawl and a memento as a mark of their pride, love and respect for the Judges so elevated.
The Chief Justice Sh. N. Kotiswar Singh in his address was prompt in recognizing the demands so raised by the President, JKHCBAJ as ‘genuine’ and assured the jam-packed hall that immediate steps shall be taken by the High Court to mitigate these genuine grievances, including formation of a committee to work out the modalities at the earliest.
The Chief Justice congratulated the Bar team for organizing such a wonderful event which certainly enhances the rapport between the Bar and the Bench. The event was attended by unprecedented presence of member-advocates with many of them on their legs due to over whelming participation by members.
The vote of thanks was presented by Sh. Amit Gupta, Vice President. Sh. Parvesh Singh Salaria General Secretary, Sh. Chetan Misri Joint Secretary and Sh. Utkarsh Pathania Treasurer who ensured the smooth conduct of the event. The event culminated with the recital of National Anthem, followed by lunch.
