NEW DELHI, Dec 18
Labour organisations conveyed their gratitude to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami during a programme ‘Saadar Abhinandan, Abhaar Mission Silkyara’ Sunday at the Mukhya Sevak Sadan within the Chief Minister Camp Office and recognised the commendable efforts of the central and state government agencies to rescue 41 workers who were trapped in Uttarkashi’s Silkyara tunnel for 17 days.
During the event, the Chief Minister lauded the collective work of these agencies and emphasised that the patience and resilience exhibited by the workers throughout the ordeal stands as an inspiration for all.
Acknowledging the pivotal role of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Dhami highlighted the continuous support and guidance received from him regarding the rescue operation. Dhami said that Modi took daily updates from him.
He pointed out that under the guidance of the Prime Minister, expert assistance was extended and necessary equipment arranged which were instrumental to the rescue operation’s success.
The Chief Minister also noted the constant presence of Union Minister of State General (retd) VK Singh throughout the operation.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the people of the state, Dhami recognised the unwavering courage shown by the workers’ families and appreciated those involved in the rescue efforts.
Underlining the significance of workers in building a stronger India, Dhami said that labour laws were reformed and initiatives like Shram Suvidha Portal and PM Vishwakarma Yojana were introduced to benefit millions of labour families nationwide aligning with the government’s commitment to welfare of labourers under Modi’s leadership.
Labour Secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram described the rescue mission as a challenging yet crucial task that garnered global attention and praised the Chief Minister’s unwavering support, underscoring the government’s sensitivity towards every strata of the society.
