Jammu and Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Mahila Morcha unit led by its President Sanjita Dogra, celebrated the passing of historic women reservation bill in both the houses of the Parliament and especially for Jammu and Kashmir, by dancing on drum beats and distributing sweets.
J&K BJP vice-president Anuradha Charak, Veenu Khanna, secretary, spokesperson Rajni Sethi, Ex Dy. Mayor Purnima Sharma, Neha Mahajan, Reema Padha, Neeru Anand, Anita Gandotra, Prerna Nanda, Suman Raina, Usha Rajput, Poonam Gupta and others were amongst the prominent present to celebrate the occasion.
Sanjita Dogra, while speaking on the occasion, said that the introduction of the bill to provide 33 per cent quota for women’s representation for the women of Jammu and Kashmir is a “significant step” towards ‘Nari Shakti’ which is also ‘Rashtra Shakti’, the power of nation. It will go in the annals of India’s 75-year history in golden letters as the day when half of the nation’s population will get adequate representation in the highest law-making body of the country, she said.
She thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the introduction of the bill and its passage in both the houses, saying, “Women’s power is the nation’s power, and both women and the nation are set to attain greater heights in Amrit Kaal till 2047”. Congratulating all the women, Dogra said, “Our Nari Shakti is excelling in every field. India’s vision of women-led development is both acknowledged and adopted by the global community.” “The world today recognizes that true progress of humanity can only be achieved when women are placed at the forefront.”
After celebrations, Ashok Koul, BJP General Secretary (Organization), chaired organizational meeting of State Mahila Morcha, wherein he appreciated the working of the Morcha and stressed on to strengthen their teams in the build-up of 2024 elections, which are just around the corner next year.
