DOGRA HERALD BUREAU
JAMMU, Dec 13
Previous governments led by NC, Congress and PDP looted the rights of OBC category and provided only 2% reservation to a large population of OBC community, but now Modi government brought ‘J&K reservation Bill 2023’ to provide due reservation to OBCs, said Sunil Prajapati.
Sunil Prajapati, President, OBC Morcha, J&K BJP accompanied by National Secretary OBC Morcha Rash Pal Verma, Prabhari OBC Morcha Brahmjyot Satti and other senior leaders of BJP OBC Morcha, addressed a Press conference at party headquarter, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
Anju Dogra, Suresh Salgotra, Rajkumar Tarkhan along with Morcha Secretaries, District Presidents and other senior leaders were also present in the Press Conference.
Sunil Prajapati welcomed the decision of Modi government to implement Other Backward Classes (OBC) Reservation in J&K UT, which replaced Weak and under Privileged Classes (Social Caste)/OSC through J&K Reservation (Amendment) bill as passed by both the houses of the Parliament.
Prajapati also extended gratitude to the Prime Minister, Home Minister for this Historical decision to implement OBC reservation in J&K UT, for which the OBC community has been struggling for the last three decades.
He said that the earlier governments in J&K did not considered the demands of the OBCs but continue to provide a major share of OBC reservation to the non-OBC communities who were otherwise not entitled to reservation out of the OBC quota.
“The previous governments led by NC, Congress and PDP have looted the Rights of the OBC category and provided only 2% reservation to a large population of OBC community and 23% reservation out 27% reservation meant for OBC category was shifted to other categories created under the provisions of Article 370 and Constitution of J&K”, said Prajapati. Sunil Prajapati on this occasion expressed great pleasure and stated that it is the great moment for the OBCs of J&K to celebrate with joys and happiness. He extended gratitude to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Home Minister Amit Shah for fulfilling long outstanding demand of OBCs of J&K, replacing OSC category with OBC category hence bringing OBCs of J&K at par with the other States through the recent passed J&K Reservation (Amendment) Bill 2023.
With the change in the nomenclature, now the ways for the OBCs have also been opened for reservation in elections of the Municipalities and Panchayats as available for OBCs under the Constitutional provisions, which was otherwise not available under OSC category.
OBCs have got all these benefits only with the abrogation of Article 370 and implementation of Reorganization Act. All OBCs in the J&K are thankful to the Modi government for this historic decision.
Sunil Prajapati also appealed to the Union government and the Lieutenant Governor to withheld unadvertised and unfilled vacancies in the J&K UT and readvertise once the J&K Reservation Act 2023, duly amended is implemented replacing nomenclature OSC with OBC category. He said that with this step, the OBC categories, who have suffered for more than three decades due to less percentage of reservation, would get the justice and due share of reservation as per the Constitutional provisions.
