Jos Buttler won the toss and chose to bowl first in the second ODI in Antigua, as England seek the victory that would keep the series alive going into Saturday’s decider in Barbados. Buttler named an unchanged XI in the wake of England’s four-wicket loss on Sunday, meaning Sam Curran gets an immediate opportunity to make amends after a grim first outing of the series, in which he was dispatched for 98 runs in 9.5 overs, the most expensive analysis in England’s ODI history. Shai Hope, West Indies’ captain whose own century had set up their victory in the series opener, said he would have bowled first too, on a fresh pitch that isn’t expected to differ significantly from the strip that served up more than 650 runs on Sunday.
This contest, however, is a day-night affair, meaning the conditions may be more conducive to chasing under lights.
West Indies have also named an unchanged XI, with Brandon King and Alick Athanaze set to open their batting once again, after their forceful century stand in the opening match.
