Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, takes pride in announcing the success of the “Handmade Wonders Exhibition cum Sale,” organized by the Department of Home Science on 17th November, 2023.The event, held within the college premises, showcased a diverse array of handcrafted products, providing students with a practical platform to hone their entrepreneurial skills.
The exhibition, a culmination of creative endeavors by students, featured an impressive range of handmade products including cushion covers, diwan sheets, bags, potlis, dupattas, kurtas, and more. This initiative not only highlighted the artistic abilities of the students but also provided them with a practical understanding of entrepreneurship, a crucial aspect of their academic curriculum.
Prof. Minu Mahajan, Principal of GCW Gandhi Nagar, expressed her enthusiasm for the event, stating, “The Handmade Wonders Exhibition cum Sale is a testament to the dedication and creativity of our students. It goes beyond being a showcase of talent; it’s a platform that instills entrepreneurial skills in our students, preparing them for real-world challenges. I commend the Home Science Department for their efforts in fostering holistic education.” Dr. Irvinder Kour, Head of the Department of Home Science, emphasized the educational significance of the event, saying, “Our department is committed to providing a well-rounded education to our students. The exhibition cum sale not only allows them to display their creative prowess but also imparts valuable entrepreneurial skills. We believe in nurturing talents that extend beyond the classroom, and this event is a testament to our commitment.”
The students were guided and supervised by Dr. Ramandeep Kaur, Assistant Professor of the department. The event was organized and attended by Dr. Anjali Bhat, Prof. Neelam Bhagat, Dr. Neelima Gupta, and Prof. Shivani Sawhney, faculty of the department.
