The Jammu Municipal Corporation and the Traffic Police on Wednesday started an anti-encroachment drive on the Satwari-Digyana road in the city. On the instructions of Municipal Commissioner Avani Lavasa, the team of Jammu Municipal Corporation started this campaign from Satwari Chowk on Wednesday.

During this, along with confiscating the goods kept on the roadside, the corporation’s team also confiscated many street vendors and goods. In addition, the municipal team also confiscated the illegally placed street vendors outside the industrial estate near Digyana Puli.

Not only this, but the corporation’s team also confiscated some street vendors, and goods kept tied here. About a dozen stalls have been set up on one side of the road towards Digyana Puli without the corporation’s permission. There is often a crowd of food and drink in the evening.

The corporation’s team broke the chain of the hawkers tied here with the help of a JCB machine and workers near Digyana Puli and then confiscated them. On getting information about this campaign of Jammu Municipal Corporation, many shopkeepers and street vendors also gathered here, but no one was listened to. So the corporation’s team confiscated a large number of goods and street vendors. Raju, who works on the street vendors, said this is wrong.

Poor people are earning livelihood here. The corporation’s team suddenly comes and takes away the goods by vandalizing them. Later, money will be charged for leaving this item. At the same time, Suresh said that we often went to Jammu Municipal Corporation to deposit the fees, but the fees were not deposited. It was told that the licenses are currently closed, and the fees cannot be deposited.

For years, the family has been raising a street here. This is the wrong way. Give us time so that the work can be done. The corporation’s team said that this campaign would be continued even further.
