Four charred to death, 15 suffer burn injuries in Jammu blaze

On Monday, four persons were charred to death while 15 others were injured after a blaze gutted a scrap store at Residency Road in Jammu.

In a statement issued this evening, SSP Jammu Chandan Kohli said that the fire was caused by a suspected short circuit and later intensified after the subsequent explosion of LPG cylinders inside the store, leading to three persons’ death injuries to 15 others. A fourth injured also succumbed to injuries, as per reports.

The injured have been evacuated by Police, Fire and Emergency Services assisted by locals to a local hospital for treatment.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed grief over the loss of lives in the incident and announced ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh to the families of the deceased, Rs 1 lakh to the seriously injured and Rs 25,000 to those with minor injuries.
