Five arrested with banned nylon thread rolls

JAMMU: Jammu police arrested five persons including four shopkeepers along with banned nylon thread rolls.

As per police sources, on specific information about sale of banned nylon thread, a team from Police Station Akhnoor led by SHO Inspector Hilal Azhar conducted raid at a kite selling shop. During raid, police team seized five rolls of banned nylon thread and arrested the shopkeeper, who was identified as Karan Kumar, son of Puran Chand of Mandrian Tehsil Maira Mandrian District Jammu.

A case FIR Number 212/2021 under relevant Sections has been registered at Police Station Akhnoor and investigation started. Meanwhile, the sleuths of District Special Branch (DSB) on a tip off conducted raid at a kite flying shop and arrested the shopkeeper along with five rolls of banned nylon thread. A team from Police Station Bishnah led by SHO Inspector Joginder Singh also assisted the sleuths to arrest the shopkeeper. The arrested shopkeeper was identified as Ashwani Kumar, son of Babu Ram, a resident of Bishnah District Jammu. A case FIR Number 139/2021 under relevant Sections has been registered at Police Station Bishnah and investigation initiated. However, a team from Police Station Bakshi Nagar led by PSI Arun Kumar and assisted by Constable Ramesh Kumar and Constable Ashiq Hussain apprehended a man along with 28 rolls of banned nylon thread.

The arrested person was identified as Gourav Sharma, son of Satish Sharma, a resident of Shakti Nagar District Jammu. A case FIR Number 128/2021 under relevant Sections has been registered at Police Station Bakshi Nagar and investigation started to ascertain the source of the spools. In another similar case, a team from Police Station Satwari led by SHO Inspector Deepak Jasrotia apprehended a shopkeeper from Govindpura area of Chatha along with two rolls of banned nylon thread. The arrested shopkeeper was identified as Romesh Kumar, son of Babu Ram, a resident of Govindpur Chatha District Jammu. A case FIR Number 210/2021 under relevant Sections has been registered at Police Station Satwari and investigation started. In one more similar case, a team from Police Station City led by SHO Inspector Deepak Katoch arrested a shopkeeper along with five rolls of banned nylon thread.

The arrested shopkeeper was identified as Ravi Kumar, son of late Narayan Dass, a resident of Gali Gujran Wali Partap Garh District Jammu. A case FIR Number 54/2021 under relevant Sections has been registered at Police Station City and investigation started.

It is pertinent to mention here that District Magistrate Jammu has banned the sale of nylon/synthetic threads in view of ongoing kite festivals.
