Reasi police arrests six narcotic smugglers including courier delivery boy

REASI: Reasi Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested six narcotic smugglers including one courier delivery boy who used to deliver home delivery of trusted customers in district besides recovering syringes, burnt foil papers, partially burnt rolled currency notes of Rs 10 from their possession.

Sharing details Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) , Reasi, Shailender Singh said, “To curb the menace of narcotics, surprise nakas were laid at the entrance of town, raids and searches were conducted at different places which led to arrest of six offenders alongwith Narcotics and other incriminating evidences.” “During nocturnal nakas on August 18/19, a team of Reasi Police laid a surprise naka on Katra-Reasi road at Simbal Chuwa and during checking one SUV, on the way from Jammu to Reasi, jumped the checkpoint.

“The car was chased and intercepted. During the search of Vehicle, Heroin (Chitta) was recovered from three youngsters,” said SSP Reasi. He said, “The travellers namely Irfan Iqbal Wani of Ward No 7, Reasi, Shakeel Ahmed of Panassa, Reasi, Neeraj Sharma of Ward no 12, were arrested and booked under relevant sections of law.” During preliminary investigation, it came to notice that one accused Irfan is a habitual drug peddler and was arrested last month in NDPS case. “However on sustained interrogation of the accused, Irfan revealed that his associates involved in the business of selling, purchasing and consumption of Narcotics in Reasi Town and on his disclosure, teams of Reasi Police conducted further multiple raids against drug abusers accompanied by Executive Magistrate and three more arrests were made,” SSP Reasi Mr Singh said.

He said, “ Arrested accused identified the arrested persons as Abid Malik of Chowk Chabutra, Reasi, Ranjit Singh of Mahadev Reasi, Chandan of Geeta Nagar, Reasi and incriminating materials and evidences were recovered that were used in drugs abuse including Syringes, burnt foil papers, partially burnt rolled currency notes of Rs 10 from their possession.” Accused Neeraj Sharma, the SSP said that he was a door to door delivery boy of private courier company and his job profile easily concealed his deeds of spreading drug abuse in the city, “Three of the accused are also booked and sent to the District Jail Reasi by the order of Executive Magistrate.

” SSP Reasi said that police has continued it drive against drug peddlers and In the past more than four months 115 cases stand registered against 149 offenders.
