J&K DGP sanctions special welfare relief of Rs 70 lakh for deceased policemen

SRINAGAR: Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh on Sunday sanctioned Rs 70 lakh as Special Welfare Relief to provide financial support to the families of the police personnel, who passed away while in service in Jammu and Kashmir.

A police spokesperson said the special welfare relief of Rs 19 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of deceased police personnel Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Hafiz-ul-Rehman, Head Constables (HCs) Abdul Majeed and Noor Mohammad, who died due to illness while in service. “Rs 1 lakh has been already paid to the NoKs of deceased police personal for performing the last rites as immediate relief by the PHQ through their concerned units.

The financial assistance has been given out of the Contributory Police Welfare Fund,” he said. Besides, he said special relief of Rs 4.50 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of deceased Special Police Officers (SPOs) Kewal Singh and Janki Ram. “Rs 50,000 each have been already paid to the families/ NoKs for performing the last rites as immediate relief by the PHQ through their concerned units. The financial assistance has been given out of the Contributory Welfare Fund of SPOs,” he said.

“As a welfare measure Police Headquarters has taken many initiatives to ensure increased help and assistance for the welfare of its personnel and their families,” he added.
