MENDHAR: Police arrested two narcotics smugglers from Gursai area of Mendhar Subdivision and seized 710 grams of cannabis from their possession.
The smugglers along with the consignment were traveling in a car, which was intercepted by a police party, led by SHO Gursai, Insp Niaz Ahmed during a naka at Phamranar under the supervision of SDPO Mendhar Z A Jafri.
The ECO car, bearing registration number JK12B-4935 was coming from Mendhar side. It was signalled to stop for checking but the driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape. However, the alert Police party swung into action and apprehended both the accused persons along with their vehicle. During their personal search, 710 grams of narcotics (50 packets of cannabis like substance ) was recovered from their possession. The arrested persons were identified as Saddam Hussain son of Mohammad Hussain of Ari and Imran Khan son of Tufail Hussain of Ari.
In this regard case FIR number 50/2021 U/S 8/20 NDPS has been registered at P/S Gursai and further investigation is going on.
