Forging of land documents: Crime Branch charge-sheets Revenue authorities, beneficiary

JAMMU: Crime Branch (CB) Jammu has produced charge-sheet against Revenue authorities as well as beneficiary in a case related to forging of documents of a land measuring 8 Kanal and 7 Marlas.

A written complaint was lodged in Crime Branch Jammu by complainant Ranjit Singh son of late Gian Singh, resident of Sial Sui, tehsil Kalakote district Rajouri, alleging therein that his father had purchased a piece of land, measuring 16 Kanals and 14 Marlas, falling under Khasra Number 182/121, situated at Chak Chua, tehsil Bishnah district Jammu duly mutated vide mutation number 119 dated 08-10-1979. “However, the accused Mohinder Singh son of Rangeel Singh, resident of Jeevan Nagar, Digiana, Jammu, who was never in cultivating possession of the land, connived with the Patwari and the Naib Tehsildar concerned and got land measuring 8 Kanals 7 Marlas mutated in his name showing his cultivating possession of the year 1971, dishonestly and fraudulently by forging the official records and thereafter transferred the land in favour of accused Sarban Dass son of Mangu Ram, resident of Chak Bana, tehsil Bishnah district Jammu and Dwarka Nath son of Babu Ram, resident of Sanjay Nagar, Jammu for huge monetary consideration in gross violation of the J&K Agrarian Reforms Act,” the complainant submitted in its complaint.

On receipt of the complaint, a preliminary verification was initiated by Crime Branch Jammu and during the course of verification allegations were prima facie substantiated, which led to the registration of the instant criminal case against the accused for in-depth investigation of the case. During the course of investigation, documentary, oral, circumstantial and other material evidence was collected which fully established offences U/S 5 (2) P C Act and U/S 420, 465, 467, 468, 471, 120-B/RPC against Waryam Singh then Patwari Chak Chua (now Girdawar retired) and Sarban Dass son of Gouri Shankar, resident of Dabuj, Samba (deceased) while offences were proved under RPC sections against Mohinder Singh son of Rangeel Singh of Jeevan Nagar, Digiana, Jammu.

Accordingly, the CB produced charge-sheet against the three accused in Special Session Anti-Corruption Court in case 33/2015 U/S 420, 465, 467, 468, 471, 120-B RPC r/w Section 5(2) P C Act Svt 2006 for their involvement in hatching criminal conspiracy with Revenue Authorities concerned in forging Revenue documents with respect to the piece of land.
