LEH: After launching ‘e-challaning’ successfully, Traffic Police Ladakh on Tuesday launched radar speed gun to check the menace of over-speeding and rash driving which are the main causes of accidents on Ladakh roads.
The officers who were present in the launch of the modern gadget were SP Traffic Ladakh Mohammad Rafi Giri, DySP Traffic Leh Rigzin Sandup, DTI Leh Inspector Rigzin, Flying Squad Incharge Inspector Raja Abdhulla, SOs of traffic and other officers and officials of traffic wing. For the first time, over-speeding challans were carried on by Traffic Police by modern digital Radar Speed Gun on Airport Road. Speaking on the occasion, SP Traffic said that the present launch is a part of already initiated traffic reform initiatives which are being implemented on ground under the direct supervision and control of Chief of Ladakh Police, ADGP, SS Khandare and guidance of DIG Ladakh Range BS Tuti.
He said that in recent past people friendly e-challaning was incorporated by traffic police which is yielding good results and is being appreciated by public. He added that Radar Speed Gun would prove a strong deterrent to check and curb rash driving and over-speeding. He also said that Ladakh Police in coming months has various plans and proposals to modify the traffic system of the area. DySP Traffic requested the general public to cooperate with traffic police by obeying traffic rules.
He said that Traffic Police shall take all steps which will be helpful in improving the traffic system of Ladakh.
