Major crackdown on bovine smuggling; 343 bovines rescued in single day

RAMBAN: Cracking down heavily on illegal trade of bovine smuggling, police on Monday rescued 343 bovines in separate actions.

As per details, Ramban police apprehended 10 trucks and five Tata mobile vehicles, thereby rescuing 230 bovines, which were laden in them and were on way to Srinagar. The vehicles, carrying bovine animals without any proper permission and in contravention of Section 188 of IPC, were seized at different Nakas including Nashri Model, Chanderkote, Ramban and Ramsoo on national highway in district Ramban. In this connection FIR Nos 36, 37, 38/2021 under Sections 188 of IPC and 11 of PCA was registered at Police Station Batote.

The arrest and recovery was made by police team led by SHO Batote Ranjeet Singh Rao. FIR Nos 32, 33/2021 under Section 188 of IPC at Police Station Ramsoo and FIR Nos 59/60/61/62/2021 under Section 188 of IPC / 11 PCA were registered at Police Station Ramban while seven other FIRs were registered at Police Station Chanderkote. Meanwhile, Nagrota Police laid a Naka at Ban Toll Plaza and succeeded in rescuing 4 bovines. A vehicle (JK02BR-4686) was also seized. Two smugglers namely Abdul Latif, son of Abdul Gani, resident of Batroo Ukhral Ramban and Manzoor Ahmed, son of Noor Illahi, resident of Sakinder Pura Bishnah have been arrested in this regard and a case vide FIR No. 137/2021 under Section 188 of IPC has been registered at Police Station Nagrota.

Police party headed by SHO Nagrota Insp Mohd Shoket under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Parupkar Singh made the arrest/recovery. At Udhampur, a party from Police Station Chenani led by Insp Charanjeet Singh under the supervision of Ahmed Shafi SDPO Chenani laid a Naka at Motorshed NH for checking of vehicles and intercepted 6 vehicles (JK03H 4315, JK20A 8235, JK03J 0114, JK03H 4111, JK02CL 7472 and 4826 (Chasis Number). During search of vehicles, 89 bovines were found illegally loaded in them without any valid permission. All bovine animals were rescued and accused namely Shakeel Ahmed, son of Abdul Rahim, resident of Tral, Pulwama; Aijaz Ahmed, son of Ghulam Mustafa, resident of Baramulla; Mohd Sabar, son of Kaloo, resident of Verinag, Anantnag; Mohd Shabir, son of Fareed Ahmed, resident Jhajjar Kotli; Rehmatullah, son of Abdul Salam, resident of Kulgam and Abdul Sitar, son of Mohd Yousuf, resident of Chanderkote, Ramban were arrested on spot. In this connection, cases vide FIR Nos 43, 44, 45, 46, 47 and 48/2021 under Section 188 of IPC was registered at Police Station Chenani and further investigation of the case is underway.

In another case, a party of Police Post Tikri led by Insp Jaswinder Singh assisted by Insp Chaman Gorka SHO Rehambal under the supervision of Sahil Mahajan DYSP Hqrs Udhampur apprehend a truck (JK18C 2717) for checking at Tikri Naka point. During search, 20 bovines were found illegally loaded in the vehicle without any valid permission, which were rescued and accused persons namely Javed Ahmed, son of Abdul Salam, resident of Kulgam and Usmaan, son of Mohd Jumma, resident of Anantnag were arrested on spot.

In this connection, a case vide FIR No 73/2021 under Section 188 of IPC and 11 of PCA Act was registered at Police Station Rehambal.
