RAMNAGAR: A complete bandh was observed, here on Tuesday in protest against alleged nexus between some Police officers and bovine smugglers.

During the bandh, all shops and business establishments remained closed and no public transport plied on the road. Besides, a daylong protest dharna was held under the banner of Hindu Jagran Manch with active support of Beopar Mandal and other social, political and religious organizations. As the administration failed to pacify the protesting people, the organizations spearheading the agitation, announced to continue the bandh till the officers in league with bovine smugglers are shifted from Ramnagar.

The protesting people were particularly annoyed over purported suspension of four Policemen, who had successfully foiled an attempt of bovine smuggling in Ramnagar last week but instead of rewarding them, senior officers placed them under suspension. Even as Dy SP Headquarters, Sachin Mahajan and SDM Ramnagar, Naresh Kumar personally reached the spot and sought to pacify the people, the protesters refused to meet them and insisted that they would continue the protest till SSP or DIG assures action against the erring officer. The protest dharna was led by Som Raj Thappa, president of Hindu Jagran Manch.

He along with BDC Chairman Garhi, Aarti Sharma; DDC Ramnagar, Mool Raj, DDC Chenani, Rajesh Sharma, Rajinder Sharma, Sachin Gupta, Rohti Sethi and others addressed the protesters.
