POONCH: In a successfully operation conducted by army and police, a consignment of heroin weighing around 840 grams was recovered from Mendhar town.
Senior Superintendent of Police Poonch, Ramesh Angral said that on a specific input, a team of police in Mendhar alongwith Army’s 37 RR and NCCI Unit launched a joint operation in Dharana area of Mendhar. “During search, a packet was found kept hidden which was put to frisking and found having around 840 grams of heroin like substance,” SSP said. He added that police team which was part of operation was headed by SDPO Mendhar Zaheer Abbas Jafri.
A case under relevant sections of law has been registered and investigation was going on to identify the source of consignment and to nab the accused.
