Gandhi Nagar police worked out six theft cases with the arrest of five thieves and recovery of stolen items worth Rs 41.5 lakh. This was stated by Superintendent of Police (SP) South Vinay Sharma while interacting with media persons here. SDPO South Dr Sunniya Ashkoor Wani was also present during the media interaction. Divulging the details, SP Vinay Sharma said that in order to work out the burglary cases of Jammu South area, a team of Gandhi Nagar Police Station led by SHO Inspector Gurnam Singh Choudhary was constituted. “The team rounded up number of suspects and put them to sustained questioning during which three suspects identified as Anil Singh, son of Prem Singh of Sangad Ransoo Reasi, Kuldeep Singh, son of Karnail Singh of Ballian, Sunderbani and Shoran Singh alias Sunny, son of Satish of Rajouri have confessed their involvement in the commission of crime and on their disclosure, 22 tolas of gold ornaments and 1 kilogram silver utensils valuing about Rs 8 lakhs stolen by them in case FIR Numbers 161/19 and 231/18 registered with Police Station Gandhi Nagar were recovered”, SP added. “Similarly during questioning of other suspect namely Raj Kumar, son of Munshi Ram of Dima Majalta, Udhampur, 3 trucks stolen in case FIR Numbers 13/19, 142/19 and 165/19 valuing about Rs 32 lakhs were recovered”, SP said, adding that 12 bicycles valuing about Rs 1.5 lakhs were recovered on the disclosure of the another accused person. SP informed that a total of 6 theft cases of Police Station Gandhi Nagar have been worked out and stolen property worth Rs 41.5 lakhs have been recovered.
