Over 600 terrorists surrender last year; More than 200 neutralised in J&K: Army Chief Gen Naravane

Army Chief Gen M M Naravane today said, more than 600 terrorists had surrendered last year and more than 200 were neutralised in Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking at the Army Day celebrations, at New Delhi, General Naravane said, no one should dare to try the Army’s patience. He said under Prime Minister’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, Army has identified 29 items for design and development with MSMEs and industry. He said Army has tied up with IITs and other tech institutes for Drones, Directed energy weapons, and quantum computing. Lauding Army’s roles in India’s fight against COVID-19, he said 113 military hospitals in the country successfully treated thousands of COVID patients.

General Naravane said, from May 2020 ex gratia payments will be increased from two lakh rupees to 8 lakh rupees.
