Inspector General BSF, Jammu Frontier, N S Jamwal called on Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and briefed him on security along the international border and the Line of Control in Jammu Frontier. Official spokesman here said that IG BSF Jammu N S Jamwal and Sudhir Kumar Singh, DIG on Wednesday evening called on LG Sinha in his office and apprised him about the present security scenario existing on IB and LC and the threats prevailing on the border. IG BSF Jammu apprised the LG on counter measures being taken by BSF to meet the challenges on the border and the existing Border Protection Grid being followed by BSF. Various other issues relating to border area were also discussed including, development of Suchetgarh and Chamliyal as tourist destinations jointly by BSF and Tourism Department of J&K to encourage border tourism, road connectivity to BSF posts and border areas for benefits of border population, assistance of J&K Govt. was also sought to clear the wild growth in the border area astride the fencing, encouragement to farmers for cultivation of the area ahead of fencing. Jamwal thanked the LG for personal intervention in quick disposal of acquisition of land cases for construction of BSF infrastructure. He also invited the LG to visit the border area and BSF BOPs to interact with border population and BSF troops. LG appreciated the work of BSF in maintaining the sanctity of the border and sustained coordination between BSF and civil administration. He also consented to the request of Jamwal, IG BSF Jammu to visit the border area in near future.
