Save Sharda Committee Kashmir (SSCK) organized a Puja during ongoing Navratri festival at Sharda Peeth in PoK on Friday. Sharing a video-clip and pictures, the Save Sharda Committee Kashmir said tributes were paid to Sharada Mata by a local resident of PoK, Rayees Ahmad. Rayees laid flowers with placards on behalf of many Sharda followers today. This marks a historical step where the civil society across even though being Muslims laid flowers and made a Sindoor Swastik on the sanctum sanctorium inside Peeth. Sharada Peeth is an abandoned temple located in the village of Sharda along the Neelum river near the Line of Control, a major centre of learning, and also regarded as one of 18 highly-revered temples throughout south Asia. “Although the Hong Kong based couple Venkatraman and Sujhata could not reach Peeth because NOC was not given by authorities last year, but we kept on trying & persuading the local Muslims to do so at Peeth and the same was done successfully first time since 1948″ said Ravinder Pandita, Head of Save Sharda Committee in New Delhi. ” We want to highlight the Sharda issue at every platform and make the public aware about the historical, religious & cultural aspects of Sharda civilization and Sharda Lipi too”, Ravinder said. He lauded the efforts of Civil society of PoK for their efforts in reviving the Sharda Culture & its preservation. “This is for the first time since 1947 that flowers were offered at the most revered shrine,” Pandita claimed.
