The country is witnessing a gradual trend of declining average daily COVID cases over the past five weeks. The tally of new daily cases has recorded a downturn with the figures coming down from almost 90 thousand daily cases a month back to only around 55 thousand new cases being reported in the last 24 hours. The resultant positive effect is also seen in terms of sharp decline in number of active cases which currently stands at nearly 8,38,000. With nearly 78,000 recoveries in the last 24 hours, only 11.69 per cent of the total reported cases in the country remain under hospitalization. The number of recoveries in the country continues it’s upward streak and is around 7.5 times the number of active cases. The country continues to register steady growth in terms of COVID recoveries and has registered a cumulative recovery rate of 86.78 per cent. With around 62.30 lakh recoveries so far, India continues to occupy the top global position in terms of number of recovered Corona patients. The Health Ministry has said that the Centre in close collaboration with the State and Union Territories has adopted a graded strategy for COVID-19 management and public health response. It said, sustained efforts of TEST, TRACK, TRACE, TREAT and TECHNOLOGY is progressively yielding encouraging outcomes in the country’s fight against the pandemic. The total positive cases reported so far in the country now stands at 71, 75, 881. The case fatality rate at 1.53 per cent in the country stays at nearly half of the global average with 706 deaths being reported in the last 24 hours.
