Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) conducted thematic cleanliness & fumigation drive alongwith spray of sodium hypo chlorite solution in view of COVID-19. The areas covered on Monday included Gujjar Nagar, Tawi Bridge, Qasim Nagar, parts of Bahu Fort area, Channi Rama, Narwal, Rajiv Basti and backside of Wave Mall, Jammu. During the drive de-silting was also done in ‘nallah’ and deep drains falling in these areas & huge dumps of unclaimed C & D waste & garbage also removed so as to give clean & healthy atmosphere & improved sanitation to the general public. Apart from daily/routine lifting of garbage from entire Jammu Municipal Corporation areas, more than 100 MT of garbage/silt including C & D waste has also been collected and transported to the dumping site at Kot Bhalwal. In addition, de-silting was also carried out in Kunj Vihar Sec-4 Nanak Landoi Choi nallah and Kabir Colony nallah in which 300 MT of silt was removed in day long exercise. Moreover, dedicated teams had been made for cleanliness & spraying at designated quarantine centers, Hospitals, Railway Station & Bus Stand alongwith the routine spraying at all high risk locations within the jurisdiction of Jammu Municipal Corporation. Jammu Municipal Corporation deployed both men and machinery for special drive conducted on the directions of Avny Lavasa, Commissioner and overall supervision of Tinna Mahajan, Secretary JMC. The deployment include 6no JCB /12 tippers/ 4 fogging machines/ spraying pumps/35 nallah labour & 150 SKCS. The Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation further appealed the general public to maintain proper sanitation & also to go unsocial to prevent spreading of Coronavirus Among others Health Officer, MVO, CTO, field staff’ of transport & sanitation also remained present during the drive.
