Admin order axing female poplar trees in Tral

The administration in Tral has ordered felling of all female poplar trees before onset of pollen season. An order said in compliance to the directions of J&K High Court and higher authorities, the additional Deputy Commissioner Pulwama SA Raina has asked all the executive magistrates to direct the field agencies to cut all the female Russian poplar trees, before the onset of the pollen season “The mass drive should follow after extensive announcements through field agency in each village” the order reads. It says Russian poplar trees were biggest source of pollen allergy and keeping in view the Coronavirus threat, the spread of the poplar pollen could prove disastrous The magistrates have been asked to liaison with forest officers of Tral range and SHO Tral for technical assistance.

“In case of any non-cooperation from any person, action under law should be taken” reads the order.

The officers have been asked to send weekly reports to the additional Deputy Commissioner.
