Residents of several villages here accrued the authorities of failing to repair a footbridge over Bislari stream at Panthayl. The residents of Panchyat, Maroog and Panthyal villages said the footbridge constructed by Rural Development Department (RDD) some 10 years ago was the vital link to many villages with the outside world and would connect the habitations with Jammu-Srinagar National Highway near Panthyal. “Peoples would prefer to take this bridge to escape the danger of shooting stones, but unfortunately authorities have abandoned it,” said a local. He said the authorities were sitting over compelting the earth filling work on both sides of the bridge, leaving it defunct. A delegation of residents said the elected village representatives appealed to district administration to complete the pending work on the bridge repeatedly, but to no avail.
