Delhi court sends Sharjeel Imam to five days police custody

A Delhi court today sent Sharjeel Imam, arrested on sedition charges, to five days of police custody. Advocate Mishika Singh, appearing for Imam said, he was produced at the residence of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Purushottam Pathak in the evening amidst high security. The police had sought a six-day remand for Imam’s custodial interrogation. Imam was arrested from Bihar’s Jehanabad yesterday for allegedly making inflammatory speeches at the Jamia Millia Islamia University in Delhi and in Aligarh.
