Assistant director (AD) food, civil supplies and consumer affairs (FCS&CA) department Rajouri has ordered an inquiry into an alleged ration scam that surfaced in Deri Ralyote village of Manjakote tehsil in Rajouri district.
Sources told Greater Kashmir that AD Rajouri, Mukhtar Ahmed has ordered inquiry into allegations of bungling of subsidized ration by three members of a family (all ration and kerosene oil dealers), Mohammad Akram, his son Wasim Akram and latter’s wife Ruksana Koser. They said that Mohammad Akram would run a ration store in the Deri Ralyote locality, but in the erstwhile PDP-BJP dispensation, he managed to adjust his son and daughter-in-law in the FCS&CA department using his political influence. After their appointment, the trio, according to sources, started withdrawing separate subsidized ration from TSO office Manjakote using fake lists of the beneficiaries of Deri Ralyote village.

Later, on the basis of suspicion, sources said that some people of the village approached SHO Manjakote to probe the misuse of the government ration by the trio.
“But, the trio provided fake lists to the police officer and somehow managed to avoid police action,” they said, adding that followed by this, the locals approached AD FCS&CA to investigate the bungling of ration.

On the basis of complaints received from the locals, sources said the AD concerned asked the accused ration dealers to submit the record for scrutiny but they didn’t turn up for submission of record and even kept their stores locked.

The AD, Mukhtar Ahmed told Greater Kashmir, “After prima facie it was established that the two months’ government ration was not been distributed among the beneficiaries, an inquiry team was constituted to probe into the matter.

When the team started inspection drive, the accused dealers didn’t cooperate, thus created suspicion.”

“Accordingly, all the three ration dealers of the family were placed under suspension,” the AD said, adding that further investigation has been taken up.
