After formal declaration of J&K as a Union Territory, the administration has reportedly sent eviction notices to two former Chief Ministers, Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, to vacate their official bungalows in Srinagar. Sources said the notices were served a couple of days ago. Another ex- CM and Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad has already vacated the official house allotted to him in Srinagar. While no official bungalow has been allotted to Omar Abdullah in Jammu, Mehbooba Mufti and Ghulam Nabi Azad have been allotted accommodation in the winter capital of the Union Territory of J&K. Former Chief Minister’s were allotted official residences as per the J&K Legislature Members’ Pension Act, 1984 which was scrapped when the J&K Reorganisation Act of 2019 took hold on October 31, 2019. Omar and Mehbooba have possession of a bungalow each- Gupkar No.1 and Fairview House.
