Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag, Khalid Jahangir on Monday convened a meeting of officers to review the progress of Agriculture and Allied Sectors.
The agriculture is the multi sectoral activity and requires collaboration at all levels, DC said in the meeting, according to an official statement. The concerned departments have to work in a coordinated manner and as a team unit to achieve the desired results, he said
Threadbare discussions were held about achievements, difficulties and bottlenecks in the sector. The DC urged the officers that for the revival of agriculture sector, adoption of new initiatives and modern interventions are necessary. Agriculture development would lead to overall development and welfare of the people, he said.
Meanwhile market checking squads headed by concerned Tehsildars and comprising of officials of Revenue, Police, Food Civil Supplies and Consumers, Legal Metrology and Municipalities conducted checking in various markets of the Anantnag district.
The teams inspected the markets of various Anantnag town, Mattan, Bijbehara, Pahalgam, Kokernag, Larnu, Aishmuqam, Verinag, Dooru, Qazigund and other places .
During the drive a fine of Rs 55,250 was realised from erring traders, besides 153 Kilograms of rotten vegetables, other eatables and adultered milk was destroyed on the spot.
The shop keepers were directed to display the rate lists prominently, ensure adherence of food safety norms and desist from indulging in black marketing and hoarding.
