In the jurisdiction of Police Station Udhampur, an attempt of bovine smuggling was foiled while a case of theft was also worked out with the arrest of two accused besides recovery of stolen items. Police intercepted two vehicles at Jakhani and rescued 28 animals besides arresting five accused smugglers, who were on way to Kashmir. According to SSP Udhampur, Rajiv Pandey, a police party of Police Station Udhampur, led by SHO, Insp Vijay Singh Choudhary, under the supervision of Dr Rohit Chadgal, DySP Hqrs Udhampur and Rajinder Singh Katoch, Adl SP Udhampur, laid a naka at Jakhani and intercepted two vehicles bearing registration number JK02 AD- 1811 and JK02AF- 4319. During search, 28 bovine animals were found loaded in both the vehicles without any permission. All the bovine animals were rescued and accused namely Mohd Sharief son of Alaf Din of Jammu, Bashir Ahmed son of Lal Din of Talwara, Reasi, Abdul Salim son of Shakoor Ahmed of Batote, Ramban, Munshi son of Noor Din of Ramban and Raqeeb son of Noor Din of Ramban were arrested on the spot. In this connection, cases under relevant sections of law were registered at PS Udhampur and further. Meanwhile, in another success, Police also worked out the case of theft that had taken place in the house of Suram Chand son of Prem Chand of Bharat Nagar, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Udhampur. Police arrested both the thieves and recovered the stolen cash as well as jewelly from the accused, identified as Seraj ul Din, son of Mohd Ramzan of Gandoh, Doda and Miraj ul Din son of Mohd Ramzan of Gandoh, Doda. Acting on the complaint of burglary, Police team led by SHO Vijay Singh Choudhary, conducted raids in different suspected locations and arrested the accused. On their disclosure, stolen cash of Rs 52000/- alongwith golden ornaments of the complainant were recovered. Police is also working on the involvement of some more accused in the case.
