National Conference President Farooq Abdullah on Friday said development of Srinagar city will be priority of his party if it is voted to power in the next state elections.
“I will take up the issues at appropriate forums and we will address them once in power. The NC-led government with Omar Abdullah in the vanguard of it will on priority basis invest in development of Srinagar city,” Abdullah said. Abdullah, who was party candidate for Srinagar parliamentary seat that went to polls on last month, urged the administration to ensure all facilities to devotees, at all prominent shrines of Srinagar in the upcoming month of Ramadhaan.

Earlier, Abdullah offered congregational Friday prayers at Asaar-e-Sharief Dargah Hazratbal and prayed for peace and prosperity to Jammu and Kashmir. He asked people to pray for peace and prosperity of the state.

Later he interacted with devotees at the shrine who apprised him about the apathy on part of the administration towards the city, said a party statement.
The people apprised the NC president about problems which they are facing in the wake of restrictions on civilian traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway, the statement said. “People apprised the party president about the sorry state of roads, by lanes, alleys and other main arterials of the Srinagar city in particular the Shahar-e- Khaas areas,” said the statement.
