Supreme Court will today commence hearing a bunch of petitions challenging the Centre’s decision to abrogate Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir and related issues. On Monday, the apex court referred these petitions to a five-judge constitution bench headed by Justice N V Ramana. Other judges of the bench are justices SK Kaul, R Subhash Reddy, BR Gavai and Surya Kant. Several petitions have been filed challenging the Centre’s decision to abrogate Article 370 and bifurcate the state into Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The two Union Territories will come into being on the 31st of this month.
