Lucknow, May 5
The Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), which is trying to revive the organisation in Uttar Pradesh and other states, failed to achieve anything in the just-concluded assembly elections even though the party contested in three of the four states that went to polls: West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
The BSP, however, managed to win a seat in the Bihar assembly polls held last year.
According to reports, the BSP failed to open its account in any ot the three states with a vote share of less than 1%.
Mayawati had entrusted the task of leading the party in these elections to her nephew, Akash Anand, but he failed to make an impact. The BSP polled only 0.18% of the vote in West Bengal, 0.11% in Tamil Nadu, and 0.15% in Kerala.
Now, the party will focus on the assembly elections in UP, Uttarakhand, and Punjab, due early next year.
In the 2022 assembly polls in UP, the BSP won a lone seat after contesting all the 403 seats while it drew a blank in Uttarakhand and Punjab.
