In a significant step towards strengthening digital governance and improving citizen service delivery, the Information Technology Department today convened a comprehensive meeting under the chairmanship of Secretary, Information Technology, Dr. Piyush Singla, to deliberate on the adoption of a Multi-Channel Messaging API Solution for seamless delivery of government e-services to citizens.
The meeting was attended by senior officers and officials of the department, including the Chief Executive Officer of JaKeGA, Director Finance, Additional Secretary IT, Head SeMT, Consultant SeMT, and representatives of empanelled System Integrators under the National e-Governance Division of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India.
During the deliberations, focus was laid on leveraging a conversational and multi-channel communication platform to enhance the accessibility, efficiency, and responsiveness of government services. The platform is expected to integrate multiple communication channels to ensure that citizens can easily access information and services through widely used digital mediums.
Technical presentations and Proof of Concept demonstrations were also reviewed during the meeting. These presentations showcased various citizen-centric use cases, including grievance redressal systems, real-time service delivery notifications, application status tracking, dissemination of government schemes, public information sharing, and interactive citizen support services. The demonstrations highlighted how the proposed system can streamline communication between the government and citizens in a more structured and efficient manner.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Information Technology Dr. Piyush Singla emphasized that the initiative is aimed at bringing government services closer to citizens by utilizing widely adopted digital communication platforms. He stated that the objective is to ensure ease of access, real-time interaction, and an improved user experience for all citizens, regardless of their geographical location.
He further noted that the integration of Multi-Channel Messaging API based services has the potential to significantly strengthen inclusive governance, particularly in remote and underserved areas of the Union Territory. According to him, such technological interventions will help bridge the digital divide and ensure that government services reach every section of society in a timely and efficient manner.
Representatives of empanelled agencies also presented their technical capabilities for the deployment of secure, scalable, and efficient solutions. These solutions are designed in compliance with the guidelines and standards prescribed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India. The agencies demonstrated their readiness to support the government in implementing robust digital communication infrastructure.
The Information Technology Department is currently evaluating the Proof of Concepts and technical proposals submitted by the participating agencies. Based on the evaluation, the department will finalize the implementation strategy for the rollout of the proposed system across various government services.
Officials stated that this initiative marks an important milestone in the Government of Jammu and Kashmir’s broader vision of technology-driven governance. The focus remains on delivering accessible, efficient, and people-centric public services through the use of modern digital tools and platforms.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to further strengthen digital infrastructure and ensure that technological advancements are effectively utilized to improve governance and citizen engagement across the Union Territory.
