A three-day training programme for Field Trainers for Census 2027 commenced at Government Boys’ Model Higher Secondary School in Rajouri, marking an important step in preparations for the upcoming national census exercise. The initiative reflects the administration’s focus on building capacity and ensuring that personnel are well-equipped to carry out the extensive and detailed process of data collection. A total of 36 Field Trainers drawn from 18 designated charges are participating in the programme. These trainers will play a crucial role in guiding enumerators and supervising field-level operations during the census. Their training is therefore considered essential for maintaining accuracy, consistency, and efficiency throughout the enumeration process.
The sessions are being conducted by experienced Master Trainers, including Assistant Director from the Directorate of Census Operations, Sunil Kumar, and Senior Lecturer from Government Higher Secondary School Koteranka, Vaneet Kumar. Their expertise is expected to provide participants with a clear understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of census operations.
District Coordinator Rahul Kumar also attended the programme, underscoring the importance of coordinated efforts at various administrative levels.
During the training, participants are being introduced to key components of census methodology, including the principles and procedures that govern data collection on a large scale. Special emphasis is being placed on ensuring that data is collected in a systematic and reliable manner, as census figures form the foundation for planning, policy formulation, and resource allocation.
In addition to traditional methods, the programme is also focusing on the use of digital tools and technology in the enumeration process. Participants are being trained in handling modern devices and software that will be used for data entry and management, ensuring that the process is more efficient and less prone to errors. This shift towards digital integration is expected to enhance the overall quality and timeliness of data.
Field-level coordination is another key aspect of the training. Participants are being guided on how to effectively manage teams, address challenges in diverse geographical and social settings, and ensure smooth communication between various stakeholders involved in the census exercise.

Practical insights and real-life scenarios are being discussed to prepare trainers for on-ground challenges.
The district administration has reiterated its commitment to conducting Census 2027 in a smooth, transparent, and effective manner. Officials emphasized that comprehensive training and systematic preparation are vital to the success of such a large-scale national exercise. By equipping Field Trainers with the necessary knowledge and skills, the administration aims to ensure that the census is carried out with the highest standards of accuracy and professionalism.
The training programme is expected to strengthen the overall preparedness of the district and contribute significantly to the successful implementation of Census 2027.
