The Indian women’s cricket team has been docked 10 percent of its match fee for maintaining a slow over-rate against Australia in the third ODI in New Delhi. The hosts had suffered a 43-run defeat at the Feroz Shah Kotla on Saturday, despite Smriti Mandhana’s brilliant 125, conceding the three-match series 1-2. Match referee GS Lakshmi of the ICC International Panel imposed the sanction after India were found to be two overs short of their target, even after time allowances were taken into account. “In accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences, players are fined five per cent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time,” the ICC said in a statement.
