KPs have not been rehabilitated, local culture and rights continue to be violated

With the tenure of the Lieutenant Governor ending on August 6, the post should be abolished and a complete stop should be put on the dual power system, A retired army or police officer should be appointed as the Governor and the state status should be restored with special privileges under Section 371, stated by Manish Sahni, President,Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu and Kashmir unit.
In a press conference held today at the party’s state central office, state chief Manish Sahni said that the experiment of making Jammu and Kashmir a Union Territory with the abrogation of Section 370 in August 2019 has proved to be a complete failure. Which will be seen as a period of violation of the rights of the sons of the soil and conspiracies to destroy the local cultural identity.
Nefarious and illegal activities like terrorism, target killing, drug trafficking, crime, and women trafficking are continuing as usual. Drug trafficking along with terrorism is at its peak in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the data of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), more than 1.12 lakh kilograms of drugs have been seized in Jammu and Kashmir between 2018 and 2022. At the same time, after the police department came under the Union Home Ministry and the increase in the jurisdiction of the Lieutenant Governor, the era of accountability is almost over.
The dream of rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits is still incomplete. Despite 11 months of formation of the elected government, four Rajya Sabha seats from Jammu and Kashmir are lying vacant. At the same time, by-elections are not being announced on the assembly seats of Budgam, Nagrota. Sahni has demanded from the Modi government at the Center to appoint a retired senior army or police officer (with experience of fighting terrorism) as the Governor , not a politician and to restore the state status with special privileges under Section 371.
