In a continued effort to strengthen its bond with the local population and inspire the youth towards a career in the Armed Forces, the Indian Army organised a motivational lecture by a Gallantry Awardee at Government Higher Secondary School, Thanamandi in Rajouri district. The event was a part of the Army’s outreach programme, aimed at guiding school students towards nation-building, fostering patriotism, and helping them realise their potential through the disciplined and honourable path of military service.
The motivational session was led by a decorated soldier who shared his personal journey, challenges, and triumphs in the line of duty. The interactive session was not only inspirational but also deeply informative, shedding light on the various entry schemes into the Indian Armed Forces, including Sainik Schools, National Defence Academy (NDA), and other pre-commissioning training academies.
Addressing a packed hall of eager students and teachers, the Army representative highlighted the immense potential in the youth of the region. He stressed that many students from Thanamandi and surrounding areas possess the intelligence, discipline, and dedication needed to serve the nation but often fall short due to a lack of awareness and proper guidance. Through this session, the Indian Army aimed to bridge that gap and instill confidence in the students to pursue careers in defence services.
The session also emphasized the importance of education, discipline, and a sense of responsibility towards society and the nation. Students were encouraged to channel their talents not only into military careers but also in other professions where they could contribute meaningfully to the country’s development. The speaker encouraged the youth to stay away from negative influences and to stay focused on their goals.
Teachers were urged to actively mentor students and identify those who may benefit from pursuing such paths. The Indian Army also assured its full support in guiding and mentoring the students who aspire to join the forces.
The event was well-received by the students, faculty, and the local community. It served as a platform to further strengthen the relationship between the Indian Army and the residents of the region, especially in remote areas where the reach of civil administration remains limited. This initiative highlighted the Army’s commitment not just to national security but also to social upliftment and youth empowerment.
