A high-level meeting was convened today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Dr. Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat at Khanabal to review and finalise arrangements for the smooth and fair conduct of the NEET (UG) 2026 examination. The meeting was held in view of the examination scheduled to be conducted on May 03, 2026 across the country.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioners Dr. Muzamil Maqbool and Tariq Ahmad Malik, Superintending Engineers of Jal Shakti and Power Development Department, Assistant Regional Transport Officer, District Education Planning Officer, District Information Officer, Inspector Traffic, City Coordinator of the National Testing Agency (NEET) UG, examination observers, superintendents, deputy superintendents, and other concerned officials. At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the importance of meticulous planning and effective inter-departmental coordination to ensure that the examination is conducted in a smooth, transparent, and hassle-free manner. He directed all departments to work in close coordination and strictly adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures and guidelines issued by the National Testing Agency. Dr. Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat further instructed the concerned officers to ensure that all necessary arrangements are put in place well in advance. He emphasised that every detail related to examination logistics must be handled in a systematic and efficient manner so that candidates do not face any inconvenience on the day of the examination.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on a wide range of arrangements required for the successful conduct of the examination.
These included the establishment of a district-level control room for monitoring, deployment of adequate security personnel, arrangement of transportation facilities for staff and candidates, uninterrupted availability of electricity and drinking water at all examination centres, and effective traffic management plans to avoid congestion.
The Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the dissemination of information to ensure that all stakeholders are well informed regarding guidelines and instructions issued for the examination. Special focus was laid on maintaining proper coordination among magistrates, centre superintendents, deputy superintendents, invigilators, observers, and support staff to ensure transparency and fairness throughout the process.
It was informed during the meeting that a total of 9286 candidates are expected to appear in the NEET (UG) 2026 examination in the district. The examination will be conducted at 29 centres established across Anantnag district.
The Deputy Commissioner reiterated the need for strict security arrangements and effective surveillance at all examination centres to maintain a fair and cheating-free environment. He directed that all entry points should be properly monitored and all protocols must be strictly followed to uphold the sanctity of the examination.
Later, a comprehensive training session was conducted at the same venue for superintendents, deputy superintendents, invigilators, and other supervisory staff.
The session focused on key aspects of examination management and procedures to ensure that all staff members are fully aware of their roles and responsibilities.
Detailed instructions were given regarding the proper verification and checking of candidates at entry points before allowing them into examination halls. Emphasis was laid on ensuring that candidates receive proper guidance for smooth entry and convenience while maintaining strict discipline.
Authorities issued clear directions that no candidate shall be allowed to carry mobile phones, electronic devices, or any other prohibited items inside the examination centres under any circumstances. The importance of vigilance and strict enforcement of rules was strongly reiterated.
The session highlighted the need for a professional approach, high level of alertness, transparency, and fairness in the conduct of the examination. Officials were urged to ensure that the entire process is conducted in a smooth, disciplined, and impartial manner, thereby upholding the integrity of one of the most important national-level entrance examinations.
