Patron Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement (JKPM), Javed Mustafa Mir, Sunday said that the party would accord divisional status to Pir Panchal if voted to power in the next assembly elections.
Mir issued the statement while addressing media persons, here in Rajouri, on the sidelines of a series of public meetings across the district.“Rajouri and Poonch districts have immense tourist potential, which has continued to be ignored. We (JKPM) promise to plug in the developmental loopholes in the twin border districts. Besides, we will also accord divisional status to Pir Panchal,” Mir said.
On being asked about the party’s stand on Kashmir issue, he said, “Our final agenda point is not yet finalized, but we are of the view that there should be dialogue between three stakeholders, which includes the people of the state, India and Pakistan. Whatever decision is acceptable to all the three, will surely be good for the state.”
Replying to a question about his stand on former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s statements of a separate Prime Minister for the state, Mir said, “Only he (Omar Abdullah) can tell the conditions in which the state will have a separate PM.”He also asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to justify how Articles 35-A and 370 have ruined the state.
Talking about the possibility of being a part of a coalition after the next Assembly elections, the JKPM patron said, “We will go into the polls alone, but things have not been finalized yet.”
On being asked about the recent statements made by some political leaders that Bharatiya Janata Party poses a risk to Jammu and Kashmir, Mir said that Jammu and Kashmir state is not at risk from any political party.
Meanwhile, the former minister said that he left Peoples Democratic Party as the party was facing crisis in management.
While replying to a question by this correspondent, Mir said, “I remained a dedicated member of PDP during my multiple tenures as a legislator. I always worked to strengthen the party. But, some prevailing crisis in management inside the party fold forced me out.”
