The Inner Wheel Club Jammu Tawi, in collaboration with the War Wounded Foundation (WWF), held a special ceremony at Asia Hotel Jammu to honor Havildar Subhash, a brave soldier who sustained injuries in the line of duty. This event also marked the appointment of Ms. Paramjit Kaur as the President of Inner Wheel Club Jammu Tawi for the year 2024-25.
Havildar Subhash, who lost his leg in a mine blast, was presented with a modified scooter generously donated by WWF. This gesture recognized his valor and sacrifice and highlighted WWF’s ongoing efforts to support wounded soldiers across North India. Under the leadership of Brigadier Harcharan Singh, Director North Zone, WWF has been instrumental in providing physical aids like modified scooters and electric wheelchairs, as well as crucial psychological support to help these soldiers reintegrate into society and start their own businesses. The ceremony, presided over by Ms. Manmohan Suri, District 307 Chairman, featured heartfelt expressions of gratitude from the members of Inner Wheel Club Jammu Tawi towards Havildar Subhash for his service and sacrifice. Outgoing President Mrs. Gurvinder Kaur delivered the welcome speech, emphasizing the club’s appreciation for the soldier’s bravery. Ms. Paramjit Kaur, in her acceptance speech, thanked the dignitaries and members present for their support and vowed to continue the club’s commitment to serving the community.
Brigadier Harcharan Singh expressed his appreciation to Ms. Manmohan Suri for her role in organizing the event. He reiterated WWF’s dedication to supporting injured soldiers and their families, highlighting recent contributions such as the donation of around 20 modified scooters and three auto-rickshaws to disabled soldiers from various regions including Jammu, Rajouri, Akhnoor, Srinagar, and Ladakh.
The event also showcased the strong partnership between the Inner Wheel Club and WWF in supporting wounded soldiers. By providing both physical and psychological support, these organizations play a crucial role in helping soldiers rebuild their lives. Brigadier Singh emphasized the importance of such collaborations in addressing the needs of injured soldiers and their families, ensuring they receive the necessary resources to overcome their challenges.
Moving forward, the Inner Wheel Club Jammu Tawi reaffirms its commitment to honoring the sacrifices of soldiers and their families. Upcoming initiatives include support for Veer Naris (widows of soldiers), demonstrating the club’s ongoing dedication to serving the community and recognizing the bravery of those who protect the nation. The ceremony concluded with a renewed pledge from both the Inner Wheel Club and WWF to continue their efforts in supporting wounded soldiers, ensuring they receive the respect and assistance they deserve.
