The Panjvaktra Mahadev Temple’s three-day Maha Shivratri Mahotsav concluded today, marking a successful celebration filled with spiritual bliss and cultural extravaganza.
Organized in collaboration with the Directorate of Tourism, Jammu, and J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, the Mahotsav captivated devotees and cultural enthusiasts from March 6th to 8th.
Thousands of devotees from various regions joined the festivities, immersing themselves in the spiritual and cultural experience.
The temple premises transformed into a hub of cultural activity, showcasing the region’s rich heritage through traditional performances, art, and craft exhibitions.
Prominent spiritual leaders and dignitaries graced the occasion, sharing insightful discourses on the significance of Mahashivratri and its relevance in contemporary times. The spiritual discourse aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of the spiritual teachings and values associated with this auspicious festival.
On the final day, soul-stirring bhajans by Sh. Manohar Lal & Party, created a devotional atmosphere within the temple premises. Vir Bhan & Party presented the traditional Chinj and Baran, folk dance performances by Suksham Guleria & Party, Karkan by Ali Mohd & Party, and Kudd by Shaptan Singh & Party added cultural richness to the event.
Dharmesh Nargotra & his accompanists mesmerized the audience with soulful bhajans, showcasing the diverse musical heritage. Nrityanjali, a Classical Dance Academy led by Dr. Priya Dutta, presented a captivating Kathak performance, adding a touch of classical elegance.
The spiritual ambiance was heightened with the grand Mahadev Aarti, accompanied by traditional instruments. The event concluded with the distribution of prasad and certificates to the participants, acknowledging their contribution to the cultural festivities. The finale featured the traditional Jangams presenting the Shiv Vivah, a symbolic union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
Suresh Kumar Sharma, Retired Session Judge and Receiver of Panjvaktra Mahadev Temple, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to various departments and organizations including Tourism Department, J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, Health Department, Police Department, members of Bazaar and trade associations, besides all participants, volunteers and attendees who contributed to the Mahotsav’s success. He emphasized the significance of such events in fostering cultural exchange and spiritual rejuvenation.
