Dogra Degree College organizes Multilingual Poetry Recitation Competition

The Literary Club of Dogra Degree College organised a Multilingual Poetry Recitation Competition to mark the “Mother Tongue Day” celebrations to celebrate the beauty essence and the purity of Indian Mother Tongue and Dialects.
The chief guest of the function was Dr. Bela Thakur, Principal, Dogra Degree College. She motivated the students to learn, speak ,read, and write in their native languages and appreciated the participants for the love for their mother tongue.
The programme started with the presentation of sapling to the chief guest by Kanchan Dubey, IQAC Coordinator. The welcome address was given by Ravinder Kumar, Member, Literary Club, DDC. Several students participated in the multilingual Poetry recitation in the form of self composed and poems of renowned poets in their mother tongue such as Dogri, Hindi, Kashmiri, Pahari, Gojri, Urdu, Haryanvi, and Awadhi.
The participants presented poems in their mother tongue and different dialects covering the various themes of nature, humanity, native town and beauty in general.
The participants who participated in the event were Nisha, Komal, Akshita, Shruti, Mohd Sahil, Jasbir Kour, Jatin, Sehaj, Diksha, Manat, and Manjot. The students were awarded with the Certificate of Merit.
Dr. Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary, Dogra Educational Trust appreciated the efforts of the students and the faculty members to celebrate such a day. The vote of thanks was given by Aditi Khajuria, Convener Literary Club.
The programme was conducted by Daksha Kaushal, student of B.Com.
The programme finally winded up with the singing of the National Anthem.
