The Anantnag district administration has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 1 lakh each for the next of kin of the two workers from Bihar who were shot dead by terrorists in J&K’s Kulgam.

The compensation will be disbursed from the District Red Cross Fund to the labourers’ families, identified as Chandan Kumar and Suresh Kumar. On Sunday, the gunmen entered the rented accommodation of the labourers at Laran Gangipora Wanpoh in Kulgam and fired upon them.

As per sources, three labourers received bullet injuries. Two of them died on the spot. “We were sitting in our room when one of our colleagues came and said three of our men have been shot. We took them to the hospital where two were declared brought dead,” an eyewitness said. Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha condemned the incident.

“I strongly condemn the despicable terror attack on civilians in Kulgam. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.

Our security force will give a befitting reply to terrorists. J&K government stand by the families in this time of grief,” he said.
