Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee protests, demands inclusion of Punjabi as official language

The Sikh community led by Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (GPC), Kathua held a demonstration here, in protest against the non inclusion of Punjabi language as official language of J&K. A large numbers of members of Sikh community assembled at Mukhreejee Chowk here in support of their demand showing resentment against the Government decision. They were led DGPC president, Charanjit Singh. The protestors’ raises slogans in favour of their demands. While addressing the gathering Charanjit Singh said that Punjabi language is world renowned language spoken by many communities. When other languages were included as J&K official language then Punjabi is also deserving the same status. They asked the Government to rethink over the decision and include Punjabi also in as official language of J&K UT. Another Sikh youth leader Ravinder Pal Singh (Nitu) said that when Government is giving rights to all communities then why Sikh community was ignored. He said that the Sikh community has rich history of sacrifices for centuries together and it always worked for the welfare of entire society. He asked the Government to amend the order and include Punjabi as official language.
