Arsenal clinched their first Premier League title in 22 years after Manchester City were held to a 1-1 draw by AFC Bournemouth, confirming the Gunners as champions before the final day of the season.
The city’s draw left them four points behind league leaders Arsenal, making it mathematically impossible for Pep Guardiola’s side to retain the crown and sealing a historic triumph for Mikel Arteta’s men.
It marks Arsenal’s first Premier League title since the iconic 2003/04 “Invincibles” campaign led by legendary captain Patrick Vieira. That side featured club greats including Thierry Henry, Ashley Cole, Sol Campbell and Dennis Bergkamp.
After finishing runners-up in each of the previous three seasons, including narrowly missing out to Manchester City by two points in 2023/24, Arsenal finally completed their rise under manager Mikel Arteta.
Arteta also became the first former Premier League player to win the title as a manager with Arsenal. The Spaniard took charge in December 2019 after previously representing the club between 2011 and 2016.
The triumph gives Arsenal their fourth Premier League title overall and their 14th English top-flight crown, moving them behind only Liverpool and Manchester United in the all-time English league winners list.
Arsenal’s success also continues a recent trend of changing champions in English football, with three different clubs winning the Premier League in the last three seasons following Liverpool in 2024/25 and Manchester City in 2023/24.
