UDHAMPUR, May 5
Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Minga Sherpa, on Tuesday chaired a review meeting to assess the progress of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in the district. The meeting was aimed at evaluating the implementation status of the scheme and identifying measures to enhance its outreach and effectiveness among the general public.
The meeting was attended by officers, vendors, and representatives of various agencies associated with the scheme. During the session, the Executive Engineer of JPDCL presented a detailed overview of the implementation process. He informed the Deputy Commissioner about the total number of applications received under the scheme, the cases where vendors have already been allotted, the number of pending applications, and the installations completed so far. The presentation provided a clear picture of the current status and progress achieved in the district.
While reviewing the progress, Minga Sherpa sought comprehensive feedback from the participants regarding the challenges being faced during the execution of the scheme.
The discussion highlighted various operational and logistical issues that have contributed to delays in certain cases. The Deputy Commissioner stressed the need to address these challenges in a timely and efficient manner to ensure smooth implementation.
Emphasizing the importance of public awareness, the Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned authorities to launch an extensive door-to-door awareness campaign. He underlined that many eligible beneficiaries may still be unaware of the benefits offered under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, and increasing awareness is essential to ensure wider participation.
He called upon all stakeholders to actively engage with the public and disseminate information about the scheme’s advantages, including reduced electricity costs and promotion of clean energy.
Minga Sherpa also stressed the need for effective coordination between the Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited and the empanelled vendors. He directed them to work in close collaboration to bridge the gap between the number of applications received and the pending installations. He emphasized that coordinated efforts would help expedite the installation process and improve overall efficiency.
The Deputy Commissioner further instructed all concerned officers and vendors to intensify awareness activities and adopt a proactive approach in reaching out to potential beneficiaries. He highlighted that the success of the scheme depends on active participation from the public and timely execution by the implementing agencies.
The meeting concluded with a clear directive to accelerate the pace of work, strengthen coordination among stakeholders, and ensure that the benefits of the scheme reach every eligible household in the district.
